I can do it on my own
How many times have I said that phrase
I can do it on my own
Yet my life was just a maze
An endless dark highway of confusion
Leading nowhere quickly around the bend

I'm a self made man can't ya see it
I stand alone a man among men
My record proves all my achievements
Only trouble I had no real friends
For a friend is someone you can depend on
Steadfast in love through the very end

Then one day I decided
Not to continue on in despair
If life had meaning I had to find it
Only a fool goes on who doesn't care
I laid aside the facade I was wearing
Humbly looked upon the cross he did bare

In His eyes I was proud and stubborn
A disgusting offense to His way
I turned around looked unto Him
His love melted my chains away
I saw the light of life within Him
I know the truth and He set me free

To some this will be just another story
To others just another song
But if you don't know my Lord Jesus
Ask Him soon and before long
If you mean it from your heart, he will show you
His Way, His Truth, and His love

I can't do it without Him
He supplies the very breath that I breathe
I can't do it without Him
For in Him I receive all my needs

He bestows His loving kindness on His children
Tenderly taking care of His family's needs
Without Him all will perish and be forsaken
With Him all will live, in love, eternally
