THE FIRST DECADE
9. ANNOUNCE/MEDITATION
The First Sorrowful Mystery: The Agony in the Garden ~
Jesus went to a place called Gethsemane to pray. “My
Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not
as I will, but as you will.” (Mt 26:36-46)
We pray for the virtue of acceptance of God’s will. No
matter what God might ask of us, let us always remember
that His love and grace will get us through to the end –
and in that completion, we will shine forth with His
own life.

-PRAYERS-

14. HAIL MARY...
15. HAIL MARY...

18. HAIL MARY...
19. HAIL MARY...
20. HAIL MARY...
21. GLORY BE...
22. O MY JESUS...

THE SECOND DECADE
23. ANNOUNCE/MEDITATION
The Second Sorrowful Mystery: The Scourging at the
Pillar ~ The chief priests with the elders and the scribes
held a council. They bound Jesus, led him away, and
handed him over to Pilate. Pilate, wishing to satisfy the
crowd, had Jesus scourged and handed him over to be
crucified. (Mk 15:1-16)
We pray for the virtue of tenderness. By keeping our
eyes on Jesus’ being scourged, we too can accept
lovingly the injustices and injuries of our everyday lives,
thereby growing in deeper union with the suffering Christ.

-PRAYERS-
24. OUR FATHER...
25. HAIL MARY...

34. HAIL MARY...
35. GLORY BE...
36. O MY JESUS...

THE THIRD DECADE
37. ANNOUNCE/MEDITATION
The Third Sorrowful Mystery: The Crowning with Thorns
~ They stripped off his clothes and threw a scarlet
military cloak about him. Weaving a crown of thorns,
they placed it on his head, and a reed in his right hand.
Kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail,
King of the Jews!” (Mt 27:27-31)
We pray for the virtue of inner peace. This mystery
presents us with an icon of the emotional and spiritual
sufferings that threaten our serenity. Let us entrust our
secret thoughts, motivations, hopes and desires to Christ
and know that He will grant us a share in His peace.

- PRAYERS-
38. OUR FATHER...
39. HAIL MARY...
40. HAIL MARY...
41. HAIL MARY...

47. HAIL MARY...
48. HAIL MARY...
49. GLORY BE...
50. O MY JESUS...

THE FOURTH DECADE
51. ANNOUNCE/MEDITATION
Fourth Sorrowful Mystery: The Carrying of the Cross ~
Jesus, weak from being beaten, was unable to carry His
cross to Golgotha alone. Simon, a Cyrenian, helped him.
(Mk 15:20-22)
We pray for the virtue of patience in adversity. Just
as Christ carried His cross, we believe that the faithful
carrying of our crosses will usher us into a deeper union
with the divine while also pouring out graces upon a
world so in need of God’s providential care.

- PRAYERS-
52. OUR FATHER...
53. HAIL MARY...
54. HAIL MARY...
55. HAIL MARY...
56. HAIL MARY...
57. HAIL MARY...
58. HAIL MARY...
59. HAIL MARY...
60. HAIL MARY...
61. HAIL MARY...
62. HAIL MARY...
63. GLORY BE...
64. O MY JESUS...

THE FIFTH DECADE
65. ANNOUNCE/MEDITATION
The Fifth Sorrowful Mystery: The Crucifixion ~ “When
they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified
him and the criminals there, one on his right, the other
on his left. Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, they know
not what they do.’” (Lk 23:33-46)
We pray for the virtue to love our enemies. No life
is placid; when we “cast into the deep”, others’
misunderstandings and anger will no doubt bring
waves, but in these encounters we learn to love our
enemies as Christ does.

- PRAYERS-
66. OUR FATHER...
67. HAIL MARY...
68. HAIL MARY...
69. HAIL MARY...
70. HAIL MARY...
71. HAIL MARY...

73. HAIL MARY...
74. HAIL MARY...
75. HAIL MARY...
76. HAIL MARY...
77. GLORY BE...
78. O MY JESUS...
