Down in the city of New Orleans
There was a girl on the corner wearing faded jeans
I looked at her and she looked at me
And then I walked right over to her, one, two, three
I said "Hey there sister what's your name'"
I jumped up on the curb to get out of the rain
She said "Don't mess with what you can't afford"
I said "I ain't here for you mama, I'm here for the Lord!"
Just then came a gentle breeze and before we knew what happened we were down on our knees

New life was born today
We took the old and threw it all away
We got down on our knees and we prayed new life was born today

Back in the alley, near a garbage can
I stumbled over a drunk old man
I said "Excuse me sir, I wasn't watching my feet"
He said "That's all right sonny, have a seat"
Well I sat down and he offered me a drink
I told him I don't need it and he started to think
He looked me in the eye and said, "What's your game'"
I said "The bible says you must be born again"
Just then came a gentle breeze and before we knew what happened we were down on our knees

The love Of Jesus coming in to stay
The old man was blown away
