Saw an old man at the hardware store
Sittin' on a bench as you walked through the door.
Smiling at the people as they walked on in.
Still sittin' there when they walked out again.
I was in a hurry like I usually am
but I stopped for a while and I spoke to the man.
We talked about the weather and his family.
"For a few years now..." he said "its' been just me."
He said "Been a long time since the kids been home
and it gets too quiet there all alone".
"I come down here to watch the folks go by."
"It makes me feel better and I don't know why."
So sittin' on the bench at the hardware store
we laughed and we talked for an hour or more.
"I really gotta run and do some things down town."
The old man smiled...said "I'll be seeing you around".
Chorus:
When Jesus came down from heaven above
He knew all our sins yet He still showed us love.
The ruler of angels left heaven and knew
He had nothing better to do
than to show us love.
Than to show us love.
In Sunday school the teacher used to tell
about a woman who was drawing water from the well.
"If you knew who I was you wouldn't talk to me"
He said "I know who you are...and I've come to set you free."
Chorus repeat
