Song Lyrics

"That Line"

by Roger Brainard
Album: HEALING

Where is that line' I can't tell
Where is that line between Heaven and hell
There's fog in my eyes, I can't see,
Who are these people talkin' at me
Where do you go, who do you see'
Do you believe in destiny'
What if you do nothing else matters the jester is old, his clothes are in tatters

What is this place, it looks like a zoo
You're staring at me and I'm staring at you
You come undone, and I'll come unglued
And we can all behave like the animals do

Lunatics politics drivel and drool, the world was still flat when they made up the rules
Purple and red is the fabric you choose
silver and gold is the thread that you use

The Prophets and poets they stand in the rain
One is a martyr and one is insane
Famous or foolish, lucky or lame
In the river of silence it will all be the same

What do you buy, what do you sell
Tossing your money down a wishing well
When the cloak that you wear comes apart at the seams It's hard to believe in wishes and dreams

Love is a thing, it hangs in the air
Something inside, something out there
It hangs on the wind, it hangs on your soul
So I have heard, so I've been told

The angel's in heaven and the devils in hell
The poets and the martyrs and the prophets as well
Black our white, dark or light they fade into grey
Everyone will meet at the river someday
