The torrents of destruction overwhelmed me,
Cords of the grave coiled around,
The snares of death confronted me,
In my distress, I called to God,
He rescued me from agony.

I have resolved that my mouth will not sin,
As for the deeds of men, by the words of your lips,
I've kept myself from violent ways,
My steps have held to your paths.

Teach me your way,
Oh Lord, lead me in a straight path 'cause of my oppressors,
Do not leave me, for my foes against me scheming.

Never to be alone; in the presence of God eternally,
Living hell; existence without God is mortal agony,
Affliction - free me from my anguish,
Cast your burdens on the Lord,
Anxiety is lifted.

I praise the Lord, who counsels me,
Even in the night, my heart instructs me,
Will of the Lord: merciful,
He will never abandon me, nor will he let me see decay,
He'll rescue me from agony.

Answer when I call to you, my righteous God,
Give me relief from distress.

Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you,
He'll never let the righteous fall,
You will, oh God, bring down the wicked to the pit of Hell,
Save me, Father,
I'll sleep in death without your light.
