There was a day in summer long ago
The grass was high with flowers in the meadow
The world was yours then
The sun was shining upon everything

Out of the corner of your mind you saw
A little cloud on the horizon
Bringing shadows
And an eerie wind that turns the leaves
You wish the cloud would just pass by
And leave you all alone to drink the sunshine

Now and then a little rain is going to fall

A time of aching holds you in its grasp
A looping video of summer days past
It's all a whirlwind
A thousand memories all flood your senses

You wish you didn't know some things you know
But at the same time you embrace them
Haunting, bittersweet
You want to but you can't let go
One day your sky will turn deep blue
He'll part the clouds so you can see it clearly

Now and then a little rain is going to fall
