8:00 am, Tuesday morning at the bus stop with his friends
Around the corner comes his dad in that old brown car again
They all point and laugh that a man could drive a car that looked that bad
The boy gets in sinks in his seat when he hears these words from his dad

God will provide every need
If you keep your eyes on Him then you'll receive
And as He cares for the flowers and as He feeds them with the rain

Backstage, Friday night just before the show
His lips are dry and his hands are wet and he's not sure he can go
What if no one's there or I break a string or my guitar falls to the floor
But he remembers the words he heard back then
And he walks right through the door

The boy hung his head because he didn't know how they could afford to pay
