Song Lyrics

"Contentment"

by Michael O'brien
Album: Be Still My Soul

Oh Lord if I should suffer need and be in poverty.
Then make my heart to prize thy love, to be content in thee.
It is thy mercy to afflict, and try me with my wants,
for by these trials, I've seen my sin and pray deliverance.

O Lord that we accept thy sorrow, and embrace thy loss.
For if thereby I feel it's thorn, then I can weigh the cost.
My weary soul finds comfort in a life bestowed worthwhile.
To know the sweetness of thy death, condemned, but reconciled.

O Lord if I should fall to fear then let the truth bring peace.
To once a wretched sinful man, now captured heart released.
Thy Holy grace and beauty still reflect my deepest hope,
no earthly crown, but only Christ, will be my prize.
