Song Lyrics

"Summer Tune"

by Roger Brainard
Album: three on a match

It's a lazy afternoon, summer passes much too soon I know
I turned around and it was June, so I played a Summer tune
And it's a lousy song, it lasted much too long.

Though I almost had it made, and then I spit right in its face (I know)
I'm losing time and folding space and all I get is just a taste
And I don't care too much 'I think I'm loosing touch

In the naked light I see, many images of me (I know)
You tell me everything is free, still I can't afford the fee
It's hanging in the air, and then there's nothing there

So I'm lying on the Beach, Autumn just within my reach (I know)
The ancient wall has now been breached
and all those ancient gods beseeched

Its only smoke and wine, and I'm just killing time
And I don't care too much 'I think I'm loosing touch
Its hanging in the air, and then there's nothing there
