Einst stieg Moses auf den Berg Sinai.

Er vernahm die Stimme des Herrn...
...und sie sagte zu Ihn:
"Ich bin der Herr, dein Gott,
Du sollst nicht andere Goetter haben neben mir."

Als Moses wieder vom Berg Sinai herabkam.
Sah er das Wolk, wi es um ein goldenes Kalb tanzte.
Er ezuernte. Vor Wut zerschlug er die Tafeln Gottes.

English:
Moses went up Mount Sinai.

He heard the voice of the Lord...
...and He said to him,
"I am the Lord, your God.
Thou shalt have no other Gods before me."

Then Moses came down from Mount Sinai,
and saw how the people danced around a golden calf.
He was enraged. In anger, he shattered the Lord's Tablets.
