Oh the year was 1990
I was eighteen years old
With a dream that kept my eyes alive
And a desire that was too hot to hold
We were going off on a mission
As most boys that age do
With a leather ball and a nylon net
And some friends to hold onto
We were twelve kids with longing
Of our name up in the lights
We paid the price with the blood sweat and the tears
Most every high school night

The time arrived so quickly
The fall of my Senior year
My hands were wet and my stomach was weak
when I heard the crowd begin to cheer
And as the locker room door swung open
My heart began to pound
I saw the colors swirl and the music play
but I don't remember a single sound
Yeah that was life
It doesn't seem that long ago
All the years that we'd spent waiting
Now it was time for us to know

Yeah I remember when
Yeah I, I see it all again
But this time I know the end

That moment will live foever in the pages of my mind
I heard the buzzer sound and I fell to me knees
When I realized that my dream had died
And as they all ran off in glory
I felt so cold and alone
I tried to hold back all the tears inside
As I headed towards the door
Yeah that was life
But not the way that I thought it would be
I paid the price Lord, I gave it to you
Now your taking it from me

Oh I remember when
And I see it again
But this time

SO I went that night to a place so high above the town
And I cried out in anger, "Lord why have you let me down"
And In the stillness of the evening I know I heard him say
Your desire should be to seek me and not to question my ways

Oh the year was 1990 I was seventeen years old
I heard a voice upon the mountainside that I'll remember till I'm old
