Jesus spoke of John the Baptist
Saying, what did you go out to see'
A man dressed in fine clothes'
No, those who live in luxury
Are in king's palaces
But again Jesus asked them all
What did you go out to see'
A prophet' Yes, and more
He is the messenger who came before
To prepare the way for Me
And John was full of truth
Unlike the Pharisees
He was a servant of God
Though he may not have looked clean
The rulers of this world use authority
But not so with you
For you are servants of Jesus
Whoever would be great must be a slave
And lower himself
For Jesus' sake
The true servant of Jesus Christ
Speaks the Word without requiring pay
And knows that all they have
Belongs to God and so they give away
To strengthen all the weak
Jesus calls to everyone
'Come, follow me'
And following the Lord
Can mean losing everything
The rulers of this world use authority
But not so with you
For you are servants of Jesus
Whoever would be great must be a slave
And lead with mercy and love
In Jesus' name
If the master has left you in charge
Of feeding the other servants
Than be sure that you serve them and do as He said
Don't be fooled into thinking that you can abuse them
And take what is not yours
Cuz the master will come at an hour when you do not expect
The servant who does right will be given more
And the one who serves himself gets no reward
From everyone who has been given much
Much will be demanded
Jesus died upon the cross
A humble lamb though He was God
He made himself nothing
The servant of us all so he could bring
Salvation to the world
So as servants of Christ
We can never do enough
As with grateful love we serve
Cuz Jesus first loved us
The rulers of this world use authority
But not so with you
For you are servants of Jesus
Whoever would be great must be a slave
The servant of all
Cuz Jesus showed the way
Just as Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve
And to give his life as a ransom for the earth
His kingdom is not of this world
